Adolescents and ChildrenAdolescents and children often have a unique problem which sets them apart from adults. Primarily they know they are unhappy, but have little idea what the exact cause of the unhappiness is! They don't like going to school/University any more, they are unhappy at home, they won't mix with their friends but can't actually put their finger on why. The problem is often a feeling of not fitting in. They feel too fat, too thin, too geeky, too shy, not sporty, not sexy, not intelligent, misunderstood, picked on by teachers/lecturers or bullied. The bullying may be ongoing, or it could have happened in the past and has left them with incredibly low self esteem and a fear of getting close to others in case they also turn on them. They may even begin to believe the vicious words the bullies have taunted them with. This can manifest itself into loneliness, withdrawal, panic, loss of concentration, fear of being singled out and ultimately total withdrawal from everything and everyone. Exams can be great cause of concern as they feel inadequate and talk themselves into believing they don't know the subject. During the exam their mind goes blank; they panic and are unable to produce the work they are capable of. Going away to College or University can be traumatic as it may be the first time they have left home and feel homesick and incapable of coping without support. Jill has a wonderful way with this age group. She is empathic and has a way of getting to bottom of what their fears are and removing those negative thoughts. They particularly take to Jill's therapy as the treatment is much more relaxed than a formal counselling session. "My son recently came to see you. He had been struggling for the last year, finding life hard, low self esteem, generally finding life as a teenager very hard to adjust to. I just wanted to tell you that his visit with you has made a massive difference to him. From the minute I picked him up from your office he appeared more relaxed, more communicative and more at ease."
How will Jill help me?
Jill firmly believes in a holistic approach, and will discuss client needs on an individual basis to decide upon the most appropriate treatment to pursue. Sometimes a combination of approaches is the most effective - Thought Field Therapy overcomes fears, NLP creates excellence, hypnotherapy provides mental, physical and emotional relaxation, and Reiki promotes a sense of peace and well-being. Many articles have been published about Jill's treatments.
