Thought Field Therapy
Problem Sociophobia – Fear of Social Situations

Mandy Zwarts, 47, a full-time mum from Esher, Surrey, say: ‘My biggest fear was speaking in public – just the thought of it filled me with fear. Things reached a climax in 1985, when I had to quit my dream job in advertising because I wasn’t able to give presentations to clients. It was the lowest I’ve ever been, but it forced me to do something about my problem.

I’d heard good things about Thought Field Therapy – where therapist tap into positive energy points on the body to get rid of negative emotions. – so I booked a session.

The therapist encouraged me to talk about my fears whilst I tapped my face, chin, underarms, chest and hands. I was sceptical at first, but by the end of the second session, my fears were under control, and my therapist gave me a tapping routine to practise at home if my nerves ever reappeared.

Now, I’m a member of a public-speaking society and recently gave a seven-minute speech as part of a contest – which I won!
