Zest - At Last I Feel Attractive 01/06/05 - Zest
We helped Katie Aston, 32, a travel consultant from London, to boost her self-confidence and finally feel good about herself. As told by Natalie Blenford THE THOUGHT FIELD THERAPIST’S ADVICE Jill says: ‘Katie’s biggest concern is her nose. She thinks other women are more attractive than her and suffers from low self-esteem and anxiety. People often think cosmetic surgery will be the answer to their problems, but it rarely works like that. To address Katie’s worries, I used Thought Field Therapy, which reverses negative perception by using pressure on acupuncture points at the same time as focusing the thoughT (I asked her to focus on her insecurities about her nose). It sounds way out, but it works. At the beginning of the session, I asked Katie how anxious she was about her nose, and she said her anxiety level was nine on a scale of one to ten. Afterwards, she said it one or two. Also, she used the word “striking” to describe herself, a much more positive word than “unattractive”, which she used at the start.’ Jill Schmitt is a diagnostic practitioner of Thought Field Therapy, hypnotherapy and reiki.
