Make Me Over

Time to move on to a happier and healthier life? Flush out those toxins – and the past – at Harley Street’s top integrated health clinic.

by Richard Bence

… I checked into The Welbeck Pure Clinic on London’s Harley Street, which is run by the charming (and gay) Dr Jonathan Welbeck Pure. Recognised as being of the leaders in the field of complementary healthcare in the UK, Dr Welbeck Pure heads a team of practitioners who will get you back on track . He suggested I try a combination of treatments, the first being acupuncture.

… The final treatment was with the maternal Jill Schmitt, who practices thought field therapy, a unique treatment that targets negative emotions. The principle is not dissimilar to that of acupuncture, which uses the body’s natural systems to counter any imbalances, except there are no needles. Jill employs a unique combination of thought field therapy, hypnotherapy, reiki and neuro linguistic programming to help individuals overcome fear or mental blocks as well as assist in smoking cessation, overeating or binge eating. She uses a crystal to navigate which particular therapy works best for you, something which even I found a little daft. But if eliminating negative thinking patters caused by past emotional traumas (a break-up perhaps?) will help build a positive mental attitude and thereby increase self control, I am all for it. And let’s face it, unchecked hedonism may be all very well in one’s early-to-mid-teens, but it’s not a good look as age starts to wither us; living like a happy-go-lucky student in your mid-thirties, is not sexy.

So, if it’s time to get a grip and cut out that compulsive and damaging behaviour, the boys and girls at Welbeck Pure will help you do that.
