Fear of Vomitting
With most people who suffer from phobias, the extent to which they are impaired can be relatively slight. However, in the case of someone with a phobia of vomitting this can become completely disabling. They may not have vomitted for years, however they are always conscious that they could be sick and are unable to expose themselves to situations where there is a posibility they may vomit or experience others vomitting. Even the thought of having to go into a hospital and possibly witness someone vomitting, can bring on a panic attack. Travelling and staying away over night can be very distressing as a phobic will be reluctant to eat in case it causes them to vomit in an unknown place where strangers may be watching. This can hold back careers if they refuse to go away on business trips and will ruin holidays. The thought of having children can be extremely distressing, particularly for a women who could suffer morning sickness and would have to deal with sick children. The fear can be so debilitating that they remain childless. How will Jill Help me? |
