Phobias & fears

Many people feel fear or unease when they have to deal with certain situations, but this is very different from a phobia. A phobia is an acute fear that is quite out of proportion to the action or object. They will be aware that their fear is irrational but will be unable to reason it away. Moreover their anxiety will heightened by knowing that those around them do not regard the situation in question as particularly dangerous or threatening and feel little or no sympathy.

Common phobias include:

Sometimes a person appears to be born with a phobia.

At other times a fear can be 'taught', generally unintentionally by someone loving and caring. An adult tries to protect a child in their care and has no idea of the consequences of their actions. A mother screaming at a child "Don't go near that dog, it will bite you." can instil a phobia of dogs.

A trauma can also bring on a phobia. A person involved in a car accident may find that from that day onwards they are unable to drive. Children may also see something on TV or at the movies which is terrifying and is something which they cannot shake the emotional memory of. An adult may have a phobia of birds which stemmed from the trauma of seeing a movie of a bird ripping apart a fluffy bunny. Prior to watching that movie at 7 years of age, they were perfectly relaxed around birds.

More than one person in ten in the UK experiences phobias which affect their lives. Some phobias are well known by the general public and are 'acceptable fears' such as a fear of spiders. However there are hundreds of unusual phobias - buttons, baked beans, garlic, amputations, thunder, mirrors, fish, noise, dead things, amphibians, balloons and razors, and phobics with those fears face ridicule if their anxiety becomes known. They live in constant fear of being found out and will do anything to avoid situations which could cause distress.

Jill has the ability to probe around all phobias, establish if something has triggered off the fear and remove that emotional memory. Once the emotional memory has been removed the person will remember an event, rather than relive an emotion. Much the same as a person can remember falling off a bicycle when they were very young, but cannot relive the emotion attached to that memory. She then removes each of the current fears associated with the phobia.

I had had a FEAR OF AIRCRAFT TURBULENCE - not of flying in itself - for as long as I could remember. After just two sessions with Jill, during which I was willing but a bit sceptical, she cured me absolutely and totally, just by talking to me while I concentrated on the fear, and other simple methods that seemed to draw it out of me. I would recommend this method and Jill Schmitt to anyone who has this phobia. She can take it away and you don't have to suffer a moment longer.
Having been ASKED TO APPEAR ON THE ESTHER TV PROGRAMME I was shocked at how terrified I felt at the prospect! However, after having Thought Field Therapy with Jill I wondered what all the fear was about! Jill made the process very simple and easy to follow and the result, even while sitting with Jill, was amazing - I exuded calmness from every pore! And needless to say the following day, I repeated the steps Jill had taught me and once again felt that calmness - and very much enjoyed my Esther-experience! So THANK YOU Jill.
Receiving TFT from Jill has changed my life. Not only has it banished my FEAR OF HEIGHTS AND FLYING , it has given me more CONFIDENCE IN GENERAL. My husband and I are now looking forward to a holiday in the Far East to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary.
...We have also just got back from the lake district visiting Cameron's grandparents who have TWO DOGS HE WAS TERRIFIED of. Cameron now absolutely loves the dogs, one of which he had never seen, because he was too scared. The guy who owned the caravan park had a sheepdog who had 6 puppies. Cameron was in his garden playing with the mum and all of the puppies. We had to video it to show it to people who wouldn't believe it otherwise. We came so close to bringing one home. Thank you so much.

Sometimes a combination of approaches is the most effective - Thought Field Therapy overcomes fears, NLP creates excellence, and Reiki promotes a sense of peace and well-being.

Consultations are personal and confidential, and are conducted face to face in Oxshott, Surrey or over the telephone. Consultants can also be held at the client’s premises, if necessary.

Initial consultations will be for 2 hours. Many people will require only one or two sessions.
